Finance
- Aileen Boyd was introduced as the potential new member of the board.
- Treasurer’s Report was presented by Kathy Snyder.
- Rose Ulrich moved that Aileen Boyd be appointed as Scholarship Treasurer with Kathryn Snyder as the Assistant and removing Rebecca Hutzel and Carolyn Seburn from the Scholarship Account for WCREPA; Aileen Boyd to be added as the Assistant Treasurer to the main WCREPA account. The motion was approved following a second by Sharon Chirgott.
- Karen Teach suggested a write-up in the next newsletter thanking Rebecca and Aileen with a picture of them. She agreed to take care of this.
- Checking account,$7,931.57; savings, $28,539.95; total assets including the Raymond James Endowment, $285,065.32.
- Aileen reported the Endowment, $245,059.63; Scholarship Fund at WCTFCU, $3,534.17. totaling $284,593.80.
- As a result of the growth of the Raymond James account Jan Stephens moved, Rose Ulrich seconded, and the group approved that $12,500 be moved from the Raymond James account to the scholarship account for the purpose of offering more scholarships in 2026. The number of scholarships and the amount of each will be determined later.
- Outstanding Member Service Award
- Sally Mummert reported that one nomination has been received to date and time remains to submit nominations prior to the October luncheon.
- Membership/Pre-Retirement
- Linda Shank and Iris Kresge attended the WCPS retirement dinner and distributed packets of enrollment information to those in attendance who were being honored. They felt their efforts at that event were successful.
- Packets of enrollment information were distributed to all new retirees at the schools.
- Recruiting letters were sent to those 2024 retirees who entered the raffle.
- Linda presented at the secretaries’ luncheon, also.
- In a discussion on ways to increase membership it was suggested that members invite friends who are not yet members to the picnic and/or not back to school luncheon. Guests are always encouraged at events.
- Website
- A volunteer needs to be recruited to learn how to update the website and be mentored by Dennis. At this time, if the need arose, no one would know how to access the website.
- 500 Club—upcoming gatherings, August 7 and September 4, not meeting in October.
- Not Back to School—August 25, 11:30 a.m., Western Sizzling Restaurant, no reservation required.
- Fall picnic—September 4, 5:00 p.m., Doub’s Woods Park, $20 each. Sale of extra food in the past was used to provide a tip to the caterer but since a delivery fee is charged it was felt a tip is unnecessary.
- Upcoming luncheons are being arranged by Jan Stephens and Linda Nairn.
- Thursday, October 2, 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., Homewood Suites behind Hub City Diner, $26.
- Arrangements for the December luncheon will be announced later; altruistic donations benefit Micah’s Backpack.
- Suggestions were made about possible sites for future luncheons along with the possibility of trying a breakfast event.
- Adopt a Highway—September 9, 7:30 a.m.
- Breast Cancer Awareness thank you card was shared.
- Mary shared highlights of the MRSPA annual meeting in May as did others who attended.
- Possible service project ideas were discussed.
- Build a Bed/Sleep in Heavenly Peace
- The organization provided a donation to this group during in the past but it was suggested that some members might be interested in a service project in addition to the financial opportunity for others. Lucy Linn is willing to head up this project.
- Will ask Lucy to present at October luncheon.
- Blood drive—serving as helpers rather than donors.
- Cook and/or serve lunch at Salvation Army
- Packing food boxes at Salvation Army
- Thank Becky for her service with the scholarship finances.
