Family Center
WCREPA’s service project donations for the 2011 Fall Luncheon benefited Washington County Family Center. This organization, a part of the Maryland Family Network and funded through the Department of Social Services, helps teenage mothers and mothers-to-be with life skills such as budgeting and nutrition along with the basic high school subjects. Teachers are provided by Washington County Public Schools and Hagerstown Community College. Many of the students plan to further their education beyond high school. Child abuse prevention is a key goal of participation in the Family Center program. A “dad’s program and adult education programs such as GED preparation are available in addition to the services for pregnant teenagers.
Washington County Family Center has moved to its new location @ 221 McRand Court Hagerstown MD (off Hump Road), and the staff invites members of WCREPA to visit or to volunteer.
